Health care challenges Essay Our country is set to face a new way of managing health which could potentially change the environment on how nurses deliver care. As our nation prepares for the implementation of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, nursing as a healing profession has to be open to what the future of health management holds. The goal is to have all registered nurses reach a high level of understanding and acquire tools necessary to provide the best possible way at a low cost. It is both moral and professional obligation of our leaders to ensure that highly competent and well trained nurses are available throughout this transition. To achieve this goal, nurse educators are the key players to train both novice and seasoned nurses to the change based on the new policies and evidence-based research. However, our Nurse Educators are overwhelmed with their current workload hence causing faculty shortage in the country. A recent study published on 2011 aimed to explore the relation of nursing faculty shortage to their workload, determine if there are evidences that the faculty workload is not equitable and the implication/effect to the nursing research and nursing academic. According to this study, there are multiple factors that influence the nursing faculty shortage such as lack of interest from the nurses to try academic careers, time spends to clinical practice defers pursuance into academic positions, low salaries, high educational costs, nursing education dissatisfaction and most importantly low institutional funding for additional nurse educator positions. Nancy Falk stated in her article that ââ¬Å"despite current critical shortage and growing demand for nurses and nurse educators, federal funding falls far short of addressing these healthcare workforce challenges. Workforce projections suggest that the US will face a shortage of 285,000 nurses by 2015 and 500, 000 by 2025.â⬠(Mason, Leavitt Chaffee, 2012, p 58). Also, American Association Colleges of Nursing reported on 2011-2012, that nursing schools turned away 75,587 applicants who are qualified for baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs because of inadequate nursing faculty including clinical preceptors. These challenges ultimately impact the future of patient care if not addressed. Faculty leaders must work in partnership to create a strategy that will help prevent further faculty shortage by focusing on balanced faculty workload to avoid burnout. This article emphasized on the continuous support by government officials especially adequate funding to nursing education. AACN is allocating its resources to protect federal funding for academic development programs, identify strategies to prevent nursing educator shortage. Additional solution is to create a mentorship program for nurse faculty. This strategy was confirmed by various literature and studies to promote nursing faculty recruitment and retention. Mentorship brings encouragement and direction to clinical educators who are new to the role and prevent burnout. Health care system will be lost without nurses in our society. Statistic shows that there are currently 2.9 million nurses in the United States but nurses with special skills such as in education is extremely needed. Nurse Educators, in some ways, affect the lives of everyone. It is through this role where highly competent, compassionate healers such as nurses are produced. ââ¬Å"The future of the nursing profession depends on a steady supply of nurses to provide the quality care to patientsâ⬠(Cowen Moorhead, 2011, p. 60)

Managerial communication
Interpersonal skills. An example of a barrier to effective listening is inattentiveness. This is a barrier because there is more concentration on the speaker's delivery rather than on the message. Background noises also play a part to inattentiveness as it is distracting. For instance when I was working as a waitress at a restaurant I served a large family, which placed a large order of 3 different pasta dishes, one with cheese and the rest without, and 6 pizzas with different toppings and sizes and one with no mushroom ND another with extra olives.Due to my inattentiveness, I failed to place the correct order to the kitchen. Instead I gave them 3 pasta dishes all with cheese and one pizza with extra mushrooms and the other with no olives. In the future I could improve my listening skills paying full attention to what is being said and also by double checking the order with the recipients in order for certainty. Emotional intelligence is a person's ability to recognize and use emotio ns.It Is a concept that helps to understand human communication. It can also be described as relevant to the accurate appraisal and expression of emotion In oneself and In others, the effective regulation of emotion in self and others, and the use of feeling to motivate, plan, and achieve In one's life (Salvoes & Mayer,1990). Leary et al describe emotional Intelligence as a precise awareness of emotion In self and others, an absorption of emotion to ease thought and an understanding of emotion.For Instance there was a time where I failed to reflect emotional Intelligence when my rope leader approached me about complaints that were made about my behavior and attitude. The confrontation made me defensive which made me react by attacking other group members and ask for clarification.

James Clerk Maxwell, Master of Electromagnetism
James Clerk Maxwell was a Scottish physicist best known for combining the fields of electricity and magnetism to create a theory of the electromagnetic field. Early Life and Studies James Clerk Maxwell was bornââ¬âinto a family of strong financial meansââ¬âin Edinburgh on June 13, 1831. However, he spent most of his childhood at Glenlair, a family estate designed by Walter Newall for Maxwellââ¬â¢s father. The young Maxwellââ¬â¢s studies took him first to the Edinburgh Academy (where, at the astounding age of 14, he published his first academic paper in the Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh) and later to the University of Edinburgh and the University of Cambridge. As a professor, Maxwell began by filling in the vacant Chair of Natural Philosophy at Aberdeenââ¬â¢s Marischal College in 1856. He would continue in this post until 1860ââ¬â¹ when Aberdeen combined its two colleges into one university (leaving room for only one Natural Philosophy professorship, which went to David Thomson). This forced removal proved rewarding: Maxwell quickly earned the title of Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Kingââ¬â¢s College, London, an appointment that would form the foundation of some of the most influential theory of his lifetime. Electromagnetism His paper On Physical Lines of Forceââ¬âwritten over the course of two years (1861-1862) and ultimately published in several partsââ¬âintroduced his pivotal theory of electromagnetism. Among the tenets of his theory were (1) that electromagnetic waves travel at the speed of light, and (2) that light exists in the same medium as electric and magnetic phenomena. In 1865, Maxwell resigned from Kingââ¬â¢s College and proceeded to continue writing: A Dynamical Theory of the Electromagnetic Field during the year of his resignation; On reciprocal figures, frames and diagrams of forces in 1870; Theory of Heat in 1871; and Matter and Motion in 1876. In 1871, Maxwell became the Cavendish Professor of Physics at Cambridge, a position that put him in charge of the work conducted in the Cavendish Laboratory. The 1873 publication of A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism, meanwhile, produced the fullest explanation yet of Maxwellââ¬â¢s four partial different equations, which would go on to be a major influence on Albert Einsteinââ¬â¢s theory of relativity. On November 5, 1879, after a period of sustained illness, Maxwell diedââ¬âat the age of 48ââ¬âfrom abdominal cancer. Considered one of the greatest scientific minds the world has ever seenââ¬âon the order of Einstein and Isaac Newtonââ¬âMaxwell and his contributions extend beyond the realm of electromagnetic theory to include: an acclaimed study of the dynamics of Saturnââ¬â¢s rings; the somewhat accidental, although still important, capturing of the first color photograph; and his kinetic theory of gases, which led to a law relating to the distribution of molecular velocities. Still, the most crucial findings of his electromagnetic theoryââ¬âthat light is an electromagnetic wave, that electric and magnetic fields travel in the form of waves at the speed of light, that ââ¬â¹radio waves can travel through spaceââ¬âconstitute his most important legacy. Nothing sums up the monumental achievement of Maxwellââ¬â¢s life work as well as these words from Einstein himself: ââ¬Å"This change in the conception of reality is the most profound and the most fruitful that physics has exp erienced since the time of Newton.ââ¬
